For the past 20 years Dave and his wife Maureen have been proud Ward 2 residents and happy parents of two outstanding children, Mackenzie and Morgan. Mackenzie is a recent graduate of Prince Charles Public School and currently attends Huron Heights SS. Morgan completed her Masters of Education in 2007 and now works with the Thames Valley District School Board. When Mackenzie started playing local sports 10 years ago, Dave made sure that despite the high-pressure demands required of his position as a senior manager with multi-national companies, he would take the time to train and coach local youth so that they too could achieve their goals.
Dave’s commitment to community ventures did not prevent his professional trajectory from rising, and after successful stints with Bausch & Lomb Canada and Reebok Canada, he travelled across the country as partner and vice-president of S.T.A.V.A., a Canadian corporate golf event management company and publisher of Golfer’s Guide Magazine. In 2007, when Dave founded MediaTile Company Canada, a software and hardware industry-leader in the field of interactive media solutions, there was nowhere else in southern Ontario he wanted to locate his business than in Newmarket’s fertile independent sector.
In 2009 his decision paid off when MediaTile won the prestigious Bell Technology Business Excellence Award, which was presented by the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce. Since that time Dave’s regular community involvement has swelled to incorporate business and local economic initiatives, and he is proud to be one of a select band of community leaders on the Newmarket Economic Development Advisory Committee (NEDAC).
My business acumen will add a crucial perspective to council’s general vision by providing strong leadership in the area of fiscal management. As residents and property owners we are shareholders in the Town of Newmarket through our property tax contributions. We need stewardship in how these tax dollars are managed in order to achieve the maximum return on that monthly investment. As individuals and as members of a municipality, we are financially and emotionally connected to the Town of Newmarket's continued success.
